Bullo River Station - ‘Rayner’s Camp’
This large project saw FredBuild construct the stock camp for staff on Bullo River Station, known as ‘Rayner’s Camp’.
The entire project consisted of 16 en-suite units, 2x two-bed units, a new kitchen, laundry, gym, 10-bay car park, 20-man contractor’s camp and a fire pit and outdoor area.
The project was built over the wet season which proved challenging to the team. All material needed to be on site before we started work so organisation was key. Workers also needed to be choppered in and out to get to work and for 16 days we were stuck on site with no road access after 300mm of rain.
A few fun facts about the project:
All buildings needed to be built in and around existing trees to avoid the removal of any large ones.
Over 50 ton of Australian hardwood was used for the job
All steel work was hot dipped to ensure it lasts a lifetime
It has over 1 million litres of rain water storage
All paths are made from red gravel sourced from the station itself
Even with the wet season setbacks and COVID19, the job was still handed over on time and on budget in 2020.
